Name-based lexical patterns across corpora

Prof. Dr. Sabine Arndt-Lappe, Prof. Dr. Natalia Filatkina, Prof. Dr. Claudine Moulin  with the collaboration of Milena Belošević and Audrey Martin

Timeline: since 2018

The project deals with the following questions: what patterns can be seen in individual languages and across languages when a proper name is modified  and crosses the borders between the onomasticon and the lexicon?  How in this context does linguistic creativity have an effect and how can it be observed? In what way(s) are morphological derivations of names different from those of appellatives? What occurs semantically and functionally when names and appellatives undergo morphological change? What similarities and differences across languages (so far English and German) can be identified? What language change mechanisms play a role?  In what contexts and discourses are name-changes embedded?

International workshop: “Name-based lexical patterns: morphology, phonology, usage” Trier University, 31.3. and 1.4.2022, more information here
